DATA & BACKUP POLICY
Backup responsibilities, data retention, and disaster recovery information.
1. Customer Responsibility
Customers are solely responsible for maintaining backups of their data. VerticeHost does not guarantee backups unless explicitly included in the customer's specific service plan.
2. VerticeHost Backup Services
Where backup services are provided (as part of specific plans or add-ons):
- Backups are performed on a scheduled basis (typically daily)
- Retention period varies by plan (typically 7-30 days)
- Backups are stored in geographically separate locations where possible
- Backup services are offered as a convenience and not a guarantee of data recovery
- VerticeHost is not responsible for backup failures, corruption, or incomplete backups
3. Data Loss Disclaimer
VerticeHost is not responsible for data loss resulting from:
- Customer actions, software failures, or accidental deletion
- Hardware failures, maintenance, or service termination
- Circumstances outside our reasonable control
- Malware, ransomware, or security breaches on customer-managed systems
4. Best Practices
Customers should:
- Maintain independent backups of important files and configurations
- Test backup restoration procedures regularly
- Store backups in multiple locations (including off-site)
- Ensure data can be restored when required
- Use version control for code and configuration files
5. Data Retention After Termination
- Customer data may be permanently deleted 30 days after service cancellation or termination
- Customers are responsible for downloading data prior to cancellation
- No data recovery is possible after permanent deletion
- Legal holds or regulatory requirements may extend retention periods
